Following the Example of Our True Ancestor
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Italy, the homeland of my ancestors.
During this time it was amazing to see how we have many similarities on how we grew up and what we do and how we live. It’s almost as if we are disciples by virtue of our prior ancestors. But in looking ahead we know who our ultimate ancestor is and that we are true disciples of only one person.
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to follow Him, not only in what we believe but also in how we live. Although Jesus walked the earth more than 2,000 years ago, His life continues to be the perfect example for us today. Through His words and actions, He showed us how to love others, serve with humility, forgive freely, and remain faithful to God in every circumstance.
Being a disciple means striving to imitate Christ in our daily lives.
That raises an important question: Are we truly following Christ in our daily lives?
We are called to show kindness to those in need, extend grace to others, and live with compassion and integrity. While none of us are perfect, we seek to grow closer to Jesus each day allowing His teachings to shape our thoughts, words, and actions.
