IS ISLAM REALLY A PEACEFUL RELIGION?
I have heard numerous times that the name Islam means peace.
That is simply not true, although there are Muslims who are peace-loving people. The name Islam means submission, in other words, submission to what the Koran and the Prophet Mohammed said. Therefore, anyone not Muslim is considered an infidel and infidels in this ideology allows for killing them unless they convert to Islam.
This Israeli/Palestinian conflict dates all the way back to Abraham. Christians and Jews believe that the promised child is Isaac, while Islam believes that Ishmael was the chosen child. The greatest persecutor of Jews and Christians comes from Islam. As I have mentioned in previous podcasts and blogs, not all Muslims are terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslim.
Bad theology produces evil actions.
We are seeing the abject persecution of Christians and Jews at the hands of those who have sworn allegiance to the prophet Mohammed. We simply cannot turn a blind eye when these atrocities are taking place against Christians and Jews. Am I suggesting that Islam promotes violence? Not necessarily, but I will say that following the radical ideology of Islam is inconsistent with the Christian faith and often leads to violence against them.
Christians are not known by their propensity to violence against those of different faiths. The same cannot be said of Islam. When one thinks of Islam, the first thought is not of a peace-loving faith but of the Twin Towers in New York City falling on September 11, 2001. The countries that persecutive Christians and Jews the most are predominately Muslim countries.
In an article from the Hoover Institution, we learn:
“Few people realize that we are today living through the largest persecution of Christians in history, worse even than the famous attacks under ancient Roman empowers like Diocletian and Nero. Estimates of the numbers of Christians under assault range from 100-200 million. According to one estimate, a Christian is martyred every five minutes and most of this persecution is taking place at the hands of Muslims. Of the top fifty countries persecuting Christians, forty-two have either a Muslim majority or have sizeable Muslim populations”
(hoover.org/research/Christian-tragedy-Muslim-world).
We are seeing strong indications that there is a concerted effort among Muslims to ring their radical ideology to the U.S.A. through elected positions or appointment’s such as Zohran Mamdani, the new Muslim/Communist mayor of New York City.
If we have learned anything from history, we must not idly sit by and stay quiet while we see the freedoms we love attempting to be dismantled at the hands of a radical ideology that is fixated on death. We must stand not only for Christians but Jews as well.
So, what can believers do? I suggest the following:
1. Speak Up—about the dangers of radical Islam.
2. Speak Out—about the persecution of Christians and Jews at the hands of Islam.
3. Speak To—God and ask Him for opportunities to share your faith with a Muslim.
4. Speak From—The Bible, God’s Word, sharing the truth with grace and in love and asking God to even use dreams to bring Muslims to faith in Christ.
5. Speak For—The Christian perspective by running for an elected office.
6. Speak About—The Love of God and Jesus, the One Who alone can transform lives.
7. Speak in Love—Not possessing an argumentative spirit, but simply sharing how God became man and addressed the sin of the world on the cross and the eyewitness accounts of Jesus’ resurrection.
8. Speak After—Bathe the conversation in prayer before discussing your faith with a Muslim.
To make the claim that Islam is a peaceful religion, actions speak more loudly than words. From where I am sitting, that claim is baseless.
