Building a Rock-Solid Life
What’s on the agenda for today?
Yard sales? Time with the wife and kids? Working around the house? Washing the cars?
Life fills up quickly, and before you know it, the weekend is gone. Monday hits, and it’s off to the races once again. But here’s the challenge—being so busy makes it difficult to live the life God wants and expects of us.
So, what’s the roadmap to living the correct life?
God’s Word as Our Foundation
Living our lives according to God’s instructions means allowing His Word to be the foundation and guide for every choice we make.
Psalm 119:105 reminds us,
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
God’s instructions aren’t meant to restrict us—they’re meant to protect us, lead us toward righteousness, and help us live in a way that honors Him.
When we obey His commands, we not only walk in His blessing but also reflect His character to others.
Daily Surrender
Here’s the hard part—this requires daily surrender, seeking His wisdom through prayer and Scripture, and trusting that His way is always better than our own.
In doing so, we find peace, direction, and purpose that the world simply cannot give.
Jesus illustrated this in Matthew 7:24-25 (paraphrased): “If you hear my words and put them into practice, it’s like building your house on a rock foundation. When storms come, it stands strong.”
The Importance of a Strong Foundation
Guys, I know life is busy. But we need that rock-solid foundation to live by. If we don’t take time to read His Word and live it out, things will be shaky—not just daily, but especially when the storms of life hit.
Read the Bible often. Or at the very least, find a good devotional to guide you each day. One I recommend is Jesus Calling by Sarah Young—it’s a great place to start.
