Jesus, Lord or Liar?
Have you heard this statement: “All religions are basically the same”?
Or maybe you have heard it this way, “There are many roads to heaven, just find your way and we will all meet up there one day. Jesus is my way, but you may have another way.’ “Just find your path, your truth, and be sincere.” While that sounds so inclusive, it simply cannot be true.
When you compare the world’s top religions—Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam, they each have conflicting doctrines on how to get to heaven. They have diametrically opposed views of God, Jesus, and the Bible. If all religions are basically the same, they are all totally different, then someone must be wrong. Not all of them can be right. Yet Jesus makes an exclusive claim, “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
Is Jesus right or is He wrong? He leaves us no room for believing that all paths lead to heaven. He said that He is the only way to God, to heaven. Either Jesus is Lord or He is a liar; either He is the only way to God or He was well-intentioned but sadly mistaken. As a Christian, if Jesus is right, we have gained everything including heaven, but if He is wrong, we have still gained a life of purpose, a life worth living, and a life of peace and joy. However, if you are wrong about Jesus, you lose it all, even eternity.
Christianity is exclusive. John 14:6, I Timothy 2:5, and Acts 4:12 all declare that Jesus is the One and only way to heaven, to a relationship with God. So is Jesus Lord or is He a Liar? If what Jesus said is true, then what others say that is different cannot be true. “For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17).
You must make that choice for yourself. For us, we are confessing that, “He is Lord, He is Lord, He has risen from the dead and He is Lord. Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” He is no liar, He is LORD!
