Show Me Your Crew, I’ll Show You Your Character
Most men have a desire to hang out and be around other men. We crave the comradely and enjoy the banter and the ribbing of being together with other guys, but the reality is we can become like the people we surround ourself with and even more important is we can become guilty of their behavior’s and actions by our association.
God cares deeply about the people we surround ourselves with—not just in our personal lives, but also in our work.
Scripture teaches that the company we keep can either draw us closer to Him or lead us astray.
In Proverbs 27:17, it says,
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
This reminds us to seek relationships—both personal and professional—that challenge us to grow in character, wisdom, and faith.
People of integrity will help keep us grounded in truth and encourage us to do what’s right, even when it’s hard.
In the workplace, Colossians 3:23 tells us,
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
This is a big deal and this means we should aim to work with people and surround ourselves with people who value honesty, accountability, compassion and excellence…those who will help us honor God in our efforts and reflect our values while Always striving to do the right thing.
Whether in friendship or business, God calls us to be discerning.
Surrounding ourselves with good, godly people sets the foundation for a life and career that brings glory to him while always protecting our reputation of the man we are trying so hard to be.
Guys choose wisely the people you hang out with, work with and surround yourself with because they are a reflection of you. Life is hard enough so having men of character as our friends coworkers and partners is so critically important as we strive for greatness and Godliness in all areas of our life.
