MLB “Pride” Vs The Bible
The headlines read,
“San Francisco Giants Player puts Bible Verse on Cap at Ballpark’s Pride Night.”
Giants’ pitcher Landen Roupp spoke about the Bible to the consternation and vitriol of the MLB and the LGBTQ community. This community believes they now not only own the symbol of the rainbow (stolen from the Bible) but the month of June as well. June being “Pride Month” is the gay and transexual communities demanding acceptance, but further demanding that we promote their anti-biblical lifestyle.
We have always believed pride was a bad thing, a sinful thing, not something to be celebrated. In fact, in Proverbs 16:18 it says, “Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
Pitcher Roupp placed on his “Pride Cap” the biblical reference of Genesis 9:12-16 which speaks of the promise God made to never flood the world again and as a sign He gave us the rainbow. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with “Gay Pride!” The rainbow belongs to God and His people. Other baseball players also wrote Scripture on their caps as well.
Major League Baseball issued a response to three San Francisco Giants pitchers who wrote biblical inscriptions on the team’s Pride caps. “You’ve been warned,” they said.
Now, let’s stop here and ask, had you rather be warned by the MLB or warned by God?
Who will we listen to because they are mutually exclusive. The day of pastors, Christian leaders and everyday followers of Jesus remaining neutral on the subject of marriage are long past. That train has left the station. It is past time to declare your allegiance, to God and His Word or culture, the world.
To take this a step further, Scot Wierner, Democratic California state senator running for the retiring Nancy Pelosi’s upcoming vacant seat in the U.S. Congress (an openly gay man) accused these players of “defacing their pride cap with a biblical passage.”
He said,
“Several players defaced their Pride caps with a biblical passage that has been hijacked by homophobes to take back the rainbow from LGBTQ people.”
How dare him!
Today we would like to put the MLB on notice with a Scriptural warning from Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked.” We would also put on notice the LGBTQ+ community that as Bible-believing Christians, in love, we do not accept the gay lifestyle as biblically consistent and we will speak up and speak out in mercy and grace about God’s truth that homosexuality, like adultery, is sin but there is true forgiveness when you come to God and surrender your life. So will you fear God or will you fear the MLB and the LGBTQ+agenda?
The time for fence-sitting Christianity is over.
