Stay Connected to the Vine

Growing up in upstate New York in the finger lakes area there were many wineries and lots and lots of grapevines. To this day I relish in driving the lakes and looking at all the rolling hills lined with vineyards. It’s a wonderful And magnificent site to behold…

Interestingly it appears all of them seem connected through their branches in some way or another abiding in a life force for strength support and nutrition to soon bear a great crop of grapes!

Jesus says in John 15:5,

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit.”

This verse reminds us that the only way to truly live in obedience to God is to stay connected to Christ. Just like a branch draws life from the vine, we must draw our strength, wisdom, and guidance from Him. On our own, our efforts will fade, but when we remain in Jesus, His Spirit produces lasting fruit in us—love, peace, patience, kindness, and good works that honor God.

Abiding in Christ means daily prayer, time in His Word, and choosing to trust Him in every situation. As we do, His life flows through us, and our obedience brings fruit that blesses others and glorifies God.

Let us commit each day to stay connected to the true Vine so that our lives reflect His presence and power. And if you’re ever in the finger lakes area check out those gorgeous vineyards !!!
